Dutch
by design, and Italian, French and American in spirit, Carin Scheve
studied fashion at the Art Academy of Enschede, Holland.During
her studies, she was chosen by Li Edelkoort, the famous trend
forecaster, to work at her office in Paris. Projects at Studio Edelkoort
included photo styling for the trend magazines View on Colour, Inview
and Bloom, and developing the in-house fashion trendbook The Key. In
addition to her work for Studio Edelkoort, Carin worked as a freelance
fashion and interior stylist for magazines and clients, including
Hermès, Cartier, Le Printemps, Galeries Lafayette, Vogue France, and
Marie Claire Maison. Gradually, her work evolved from fashion design to
interior styling.
From Paris, Carin moved to New York where she continued to style, though
her work increasingly involved developing creative concepts and art
direction for photo shoots. Together with photographer Martyn Thompson
she created a unique method and immediately recognizable style of work.
During these years, she and Martyn created a home catalogue for Hermès,
as well as conceptual stories for City NYC magazine and for the
trend-based publication Prospective Book. At this time, Carin developed
her vision as a stylist, working to bring a unique concept and a sense
of creativity to each project.
Some of her clients included Kate Spade, Banana Republic, Pottery Barn,
Dunhill, Elle Decor, Surface magazine, D Casa Italia, House and Garden,
Food and Wine. Later she met architect and designer Piero Lissoni. Her
work with Lissoni includes creating concepts and styling for catalogues,
advertising campaigns and showrooms for high-level design clients as
Boffi, Cassina, Living Divani, Glas and Kerakoll. Most recently Carin is
involved in decorating hotels, public areas and corporate suites
designed by Piero Lissoni.
